Here's a story about this Steam Locomotive. This Steam Loco is a Manor Class 4-6-0 No.7802 Bradley Manor. One of Charles Colletts light engines designed for secondary lines is seen here with a passenger train near Oxley Motive Power Depot in 1963. Built at Swindon Works for the GWR in 1938. Its last shed was Shrewsbury from where it was withdrawn in November 1965. One of 9 of these fine engines to be preserved. 7802 Bradley Manor was fortunate in being sent to Woodham Brothers Scrapyard in July 1966. It spent 14 years there until it was rescued by the Erlestoke Manor Fund based at the Severn Valley Railway. The original plan was to use it for parts for the Erlestoke Manor. Fortunately. There was a change of heart and Bradley Manor was beautifully restored and returned to work on the preserved lines and the main line by 1993. At the time of writing. It is back on the rails.
