A group of young trainspotters gather at the north end of Lancaster Castle Station to witness the departure of the BR Standard Class 7MT Britannia 4-6-0 No. 70012 on a London Euston to Workington express on 9th October 1965. Once named John of Gaunt. The nameplate had recently been removed to foil souvenir hunters. This loco spent its early life working on the Great Eastern Main Line between London Liverpool Street and Norwich.
