Pittsburgh amateur rail and history
Through the early morning mist a CSX Intermodal passes by Pittsburgh through Station Square heading towards the starting point of the Ohio River. Station Square was built, owned, and operated by the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad (P&LE) through the 1970s when it was redeveloped by the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation in 1976. Today the Square is mostly a dinning and entertainment destination with several restaurants and special attractions including the 2 remaining Inclines and The Gateway Clippers (historic Pittsburgh riverboats). There are still several locations to see trains pass including the CSX double track alongside the river, the Norfolk Southern double track on the hillside, the Pittsburgh rapid transit (T system) rail cars actually have a stop behind Station Square, Conveniently named the Station Square stop, before they cross the River into the city. #trainspotting #video #train #diesel #station #lineside
