The Jamster
DB 66048 {James the Engine} resting amongst some trees down an embankment from the Highland mainline at Carrbridge following a serious derailment which occurred on 4th January 2010 involving the empty Tesco train. The loco was working 4N47 from Inverness to Mossend when snow and ice ingress affected the trains braking performance and caused it to pass a red signal and derail on a run out set of points just before Carrbridge station platform. This was the first day of DBs operation of this train after they took over operations from DRS. The driver and his colleague escaped with minor injuries and the wreckage narrowly missed houses. One month on from the derailment we see 66048 resting against a tree which is believed to have stopped it from progressing further down the embankment. The locomotive was eventually recovered and is now at Longport as an empty body shell. 03/02/10 #dbcargouk #derailment #class66 #diesel #locomotive #carrbridge #trainspotting #railway #train
