Boden Södra has some historical significance. During Nazi Germany's occupation of Norway German troops on leave were transferred on train through Sweden. They stopped for provisioing et al at Boden Södra which back then were part of a military compound belonging to the Swedish armed forces. The transit traffic was (and is) highly controversial and several attacks against Boden Södra were planned but detected.
