Here's a story about this Steam Locomotive. This Steam Loco is a Black 5 4-6-0 No. 44756. Smoke drifts from the chimney of this rather dirty Black 5 seen here at Newton Heath MPD in 1963. The engine was built in June 1946 at Crewe Works incorporating a steel firebox, Caprotti Valve Gear, Skefko roller bearings and a double chimney. It was withdrawn from Brunswick on 30th September 1964 and scrapped at WE Smith of Ecclesfield on 28th February 1965.
