The East Devon Branch Lines. Sidmouth to Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth. Opened between 1874 and 1903. Closed in 1967. Sidmouth, Tipton St John, Newton Poppleford, East Budleigh, Budleigh Salterton, Littleham and Exmouth. Opened between 1874 and 1903. The branch lines to East Devons seaside resorts had a short life of less than 100 years. During their heyday. They carried holidaymakers and day trippers in their thousands. But the post war years brought dwindling patronage and ultimate closure. Today a 4 mile section of this railway is a popular footpath and cycleway through woodland and rolling Devon Countryside.
