Here's a story about this Steam Locomotive. This Steam Loco is a Standard Class 2 2-6-0 No 78002. A busy engine on station pilot duties at Preston in 1964 is Standard Class 2 No. 78002 as it sits between 2 carriages. A member of the crew adjusts the running lights. The locomotive was designed as were most of the Standard Engines by R.A Riddles at Derby and introduced in 1952. This engine was built at Darlington Works in December 1952. It was withdrawn from Lostock Hall in June 1966 and cut up at the Central Wagon Co of Ince in Wigan 4 months later.
