Here's a story about this Steam Locomotive. This Steam Loco is a Coronation Class 4-6-2 No. 46238 City of Carlisle. Preston Station in 1962 and a beautiful, powerful Coronation Class engine stands at the platform being admired by a grown up enthusiast and presumably his young son. The Stanier Locomotive was built at Crewe Works and entered service in September 1939. A look at the lower front end tells us that it was once streamlined. But is now what is known as a Semi for Semi Streamlined. It was withdrawn in October 1964 and scrapped at Arnott Young of Troon 2 months later.
