An unrebuilt ex LMS Patriot Class 4-6-0 No. 45513 waits for the road ahead at the north end of Preston Station on 1st July 1961. Someone has obviously bothered to clean the lower cabside panel on this otherwise grimy and unnamed locomotive. It was built in 1932. The loco was named Sir WA Stanier in 1943. But lost its name when newly built Coronation Class 4-6-2 No. 46256 was named Sir William A Stanier FRS in 1947.
