The ultimate in Somerset & Dorset Steam Power in the final summer of through trains over the Somerset & Dorset. A BR Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 No. 92245 lifts a southbound express through Midford on 25th August 1962. The 9Fs had recently been drafted in from other WR sheds as they were capable of lifting heavy expresses over the Mendips without assistance. This particular loco spent 25 years at Woodhams Scrapyard in Barry before being saved for possible preservation.
