A nice surprise upon arrival at Carlisle on Saturday 17th November 2024 with West Coast Railways 37668 and 37685 stabled in the High Wapping Sidings immediately south of the station. 37668 was released from the English Electric Vulcan Foundry on the 12th January 1965 and was based out of South Wales before being transferred to Thornaby in 1988. Throughout the early 1990s the loco was constantly moved around the country and this included a brief spell back in South Wales. It was acquired by EWS and put to general use until purchase by West Coast Railways in 2007. 37685 was released from the English Electric Vulcan Foundry on the 10th April 1964 and spent the first part of its life in South Wales before being transferred to Tinsley in 1987 and then on to Immingham in 1990. After a short period of time out of action the locomotive headed north of the border and was based out of Inverness until 1996. Following privatisation it was acquired by EWS and spent a year in France before being put into general use throughout Britain. In 2007 the locomotive was bought by West Coast Railways and has spent the last 17 years based out of Carnforth along with 37668. #trainspotting #lineside #station #train #diesel #WestCoastRailways #Class37 #37668 #37685
