A new kid on the block brand new out of Darlington Works. An Ivatt Class 2 2-6-0 No. 46501 arrives at Barnard Castle with the 16:10pm from Darlington to Penrith train on 30th April 1952. Diesel Multiple Units replaced these steam hauled trains in 1959. Once a busy junction. The Station Site at Barnard Castle has long ago disappeared without trace.
