The Mawddach Trail. It opened between 1865 and 1869. It closed in 1965. Morfa Mawddach Barmouth Junction to Dolgellau. Morfa Mawddach, Arthog, Penmaenpool and Dolgellau. For nearly 100 Years. The long cross country railway between Ruabon and Barmouth was an important route for trains of holidaymakers seeking to escape the Industrial Midlands. The Mawddach Trail Footpath and cycleway follows the trackbed alongside the highly scenic Mawddach Estuary.
