CHS200-011
The high-speed electric train ES250-001 "Sokol" on the outskirts of the Likhobory site of the Moscow Railway Museum. This is an experienced fully Russian high-speed train, manufactured by the Transmash plant (Tikhvin), built in 1998. The electric train could reach speeds of up to 250 km/h, powered by direct and alternating current. This train was developed to replace the outdated high-speed trains ER200, which were operated on the St. Petersburg - Moscow line from 1973 to 2009. Alas, tests have shown that the design of the train does not meet safety and reliability standards, has many disadvantages and requires deep refinement. Subsequently, the project was closed, and instead of ES250, Russian Railways decided to purchase SIEMENS Velaro RUS B1/B2 "Sapsan" trains #trainspotting #train #emu #Transmash #OKT #MZD #RZD
