Here's a story about this Steam Locomotive. This Steam Loco is a Coronation Class 4-6-2 No. 46252 City of Leicester. Here we have one of William Staniers powerful Coronation Class Locomotives as it stands at the head of its train at Warrington Bank Quay Station in 1962. The trainspotter is noting the details at the same time as having a chat with the driver. On 19th November 1951. The locomotive was traversing from the fast line onto the slow line in Polesworth station when it became derailed. The engine passed through the station with the side in contact with the platform and when it reached the end. It was thrown onto its side. 7 of the trains 12 coaches left the rails. But remained upright. Amazingly. There were no serious injuries. The locomotive was built in June 1944 at Crewe Works. It's first allocation was 5A Crewe North. It was withdrawn on 31st May 1963 from Camden and scrapped at Crewe Works on 30th September 1963.
