A Class 104 No. M53479. A total of 300 Class 104 vehicles were built for general branch line and local services by the Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company from April 1957. Many survived in service until the 1990s. With No. M53479 leading and still sporting the all over blue livery. A Class 104 unit pauses at Walthamstow (Blackhorse Road) on a Barking to Gospel Oak service in April 1987.
