Here's a story about this Steam Locomotive. This Steam Loco is a V2 2-6-2 No. 60905. At Doncaster MPD in May 1963. We find a Gresley designed V2 No. 60905 flashed up and ready to go. The locomotive was built at Darlington Works and went into service on 10th April 1940. Its last shed was Doncaster from where it was withdrawn in September 1963 and scrapped at Doncaster Works the following month. This Locomotive. No. 60905 which previously had the number 4876 was involved in an accident on Sunday 10th February 1946. It was hauling a passenger train towards Potters Bar in Hertfordshire when a signalman's error caused a local train to hit the buffers and allowed its derailed carriages to foul the main line. Both the train hauled by No. 4876 and an express coming the other way collided with the wreckage. 2 passengers were killed and 17 injured. The driver of the local train had misidentified a poorly placed signal on the main line believing that it applied to his line.
