In the days before the road economy. Everything that was meaningful was transported by rail as illustrated by this scene at Kyle of Lochalsh around the time of nationalisation in 1948. In the sidings wagons from the LMS, GWR and SR stands along with stacks of fish boxes testament to a thriving Scottish fishing industry. At the platform stands a passenger train complete with flat wagon behind the engine. The train is hauled by an Highland Railway Superheated Goods 4-6-0 still numbered with LMS No. 17955.
