I've been way out of touch for some time but very much appreciate the occasional comments of earlier posts. Here's a static shot of the wonderful Beyer Garratt loco at Statfold Barn narrow gauge system in Staffordshire, UK. What they have is seriously impressive. The other snap is a close-up of the business end of 71000 Duke of Gloucester Caprotti driving motion. Hardly does it justice as the serious gearing is hidden away. Very sophisticated stare of art signaling systems being installed. It's 70 years old like me. I could certainly use an overhaul. There's a charming aphorism referring to old liquid measures. 'Trying to fit a quart (2 pints) into a pint pot.' Satellite systems on a footplate at 70 mph with raging fire, steam and coal dust? The lunar surface is a dodle after that. Regards all, John Kennedy
