Here's a story about this Steam Locomotive. This Steam Loco is an 01 No. 63687. The past hauls the future here as No. 68687 arrives at Doncaster with 2 baby Deltics (D5900s) in tow in May 1963. The engine was designed by John George Robinson. CME of the GCR and built by Robert Stephenson and Hawthorn Limited in 1924. As an 04 Class. It was later rebuilt under Thompson as an 01 Class with an upgraded boiler, new cylinders and walschaerts valve gear. It was withdrawn on 16th October 1963 from 31B March and scrapped in January 1964 at Doncaster Works.
