The Lon Eifion. It opened in 1867. It closed in 1964. Caernarfon to Afon Wen. Caernarfon, Bontnewydd, Dinas Junction, LIanwnda, Groeslon, Penygroes, Pant Glas, Bryncir, Ynys, LIangybi, Chwilog and Afon Wen. Party built along the route of a horse drawn, narrow gauge, slate carrying tramway. The 18 and 3 quarter mile standard gauge railway between Caernarfon and Afon Wen opened in 1867. It was used on Summer Saturdays by through trains from Liverpool, Manchester and London Euston. But declining traffic led to its closure in 1964. Since then. The trackbed between Caernarfon and Bryncir has been reopened as a footpath and cycleway.
