The Paisley & Clyde Railway Path. It opened between 1864 and 1869. It closed between 1965 and 1983. Johnstone to Princes Pier in Greenock. Elderslie, Houston, Bridge of Weir, Kilmalcolm, Lynedoch and Princes Pier. The opening of the railway to Princes Pier to Greenock in 1869 led to an all out price war between 2 rival railway companies competing for the lucrative Clyde Steamer Traffic. Local Services to Princes Pier ended in 1959. But trains carrying Trans Atlantic Liner Passengers continued until 1965. Meanwhile. Kilmacolm continued to be served by local trains from Glasgow until 1983 when the line closed. Since then much of the route has been reopened as a footpath and cycleway.
