Here's a story about this Steam Locomotive.
This Steam Loco is a Hughes Fowler Crab 2-6-0 No. 42792.
One of the ubiquitous Hughes Fowler Crabs is seen at Dallam Shed about to be turned on the turntable in 1963. This is shortly before withdrawal hence its appalling condition. The Hughes derived Fowler Engine was built at Crewe Works in October 1927 and its last shed was Gorton from where it was withdrawn on 26th October 1963 to be scrapped at Rigleys of Bulwell Forest in January 1964. The enthusiasts here are perhaps in a precarious place.
