I was at the Museum on Tuesday and I cleaned out the fire and the ash pan so I wouldn't have to do it Sunday. What may interest you is in the second and third photos you can see a little flap/door at the end of the ash pan and this allows us to get behind the brick arch and clean that out. The last photo shows the combined ash pan/damper The flap at the front of the ash pan is the damper and you can adjust the damper by notching up the links on the chain
