VL15S-028 travels with a freight train through the Gory station. VL15 was the most powerful DC electric freight locomotive in the USSR, built at the Tbilisi Electric Locomotive Plant from 1984 to 1991. It was originally intended for the Murmansk section of the Oktyabrskaya Railway, but later this section was switched to alternating current, and the electric locomotives were sent to the Volkhovstroy depot (Leningrad region) for operation in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. In the Murmansk region there remains a section of the industrial railway of the PhosAgro plant where a permanent one has been preserved, and these electric trains are still in operation there, but of a slightly different modification - VL15A. The number of axles is 12 (6 axes per section) and a traction electric motor with a power of 750 kW is installed on each axle, the total power of the electric locomotive is 9000 kW. For alternating current, at the Novocherkassk plant in Russia, a similar electric locomotive VL85 was built in the amount of 270 copies, outwardly very similar to VL15, its power is already 9360 kW, it also has 6 axles per section and a traction motor is installed on each. They are used on the East Siberian Railway #trainspotting #train #electric #station #TEVZ #VL15 #RZD #OKT
