The end of the line at Padstow 259 and 3 quarter miles from London Waterloo. An unrebuilt Battle of Britain Class 4-6-2 No. 34078 222 Squadron waits in the sidings with a rake of SR malachite Green Coaches in July 1964. There was less than 2 months to go before the withdrawal of the Atlantic Coast Express and the end of steam on this line. Much loved by John Betjeman. Padstow struggled on with a truncated DMU Service to Wadebridge and Bodmin Road until January 1967 when the line finally closed.
