The last day of passenger services on the Ryde to Cowes Line saw trains packed with enthusiasts wishing to pay their last respects. Here's a Class 02 0-4-4T No.27 formerly named Merstone arrives at Cowes on 20th February 1966. Goods traffic lingered on until May when the line closed completely. The station site has long since disappeared beneath a supermarket while the footbridge can now be seen on the Mid Hants Railway at Medstead & Four Marks Station.
